Building & Zoning
Building and Zoning are separate and require separate permits.
Prior to obtaining a building permit, or starting a business in the City of Munroe Falls, you must first obtain Zoning approval through a Zoning Permit. Zoning is the process of dividing land in a municipality into zones in which certain land uses are permitted or prohibited. The sizes, bulk, and placement of buildings and structures are regulated through this process. The type of use may also determine whether planning permission is needed. Building permits regulate how things are constructed for safety purposes by enforcement of state and local building codes.
While Zoning permits are issued by the City of Munroe Falls, building permits are issued through our neighboring City of Stow. The City of Munroe Falls enlisted the services of the City of Stow to issue all residential and commercial BUILDING permits effective July 1, 2012 and includes permits for all:
- Building & construction
- HVAC - Heating & Air Conditioning
The City of Stow Building Department will not issue a building permit without proof of Zoning approval from the City of Munroe Falls.
