The Board of Zoning Appeals has five voting members with the responsibility of reviewing any appeals for an exception or variance to:

  • Measures
  • Municipal Codes
  • Orders of Administrative Officials
  • Ordinances
  • Regulations
  • Resolutions

The basis of an appeal must be founded on an unreasonable hardship. The decision of the board is final, subject to further appeals that may be available in a court of law. The Board of Zoning Appeals meets only when there is an application submitted for review.

Board Member Requirements

The requirement to be a member of this board include:

  • Resident of the community
  • Does not hold any other elected position or job with the city government
  • Appointed by the mayor
  • Approved by the council
  • Serve a term of five years

Appeals Application

For consideration, all Board of Zoning Appeals Applications, plans copies and fees must be received at City Hall no later than the last Monday of each month, by 4 p.m.  It is recommended that plans be submitted prior to this deadline to ensure completeness.
